Who We Are

Welcome to Aikido Association Atlanta, a traditional Aikido dojo serving Roswell and surrounding North Atlanta communities. If you are searching for martial arts classes in Roswell, our dojo offers structured training in Aikido and Iaido for teens and adults. Students can improve fitness, focus, confidence, coordination, and practical self-defense skills.

We believe martial arts training should strengthen both the body and mind. Therefore, our instructors focus on proper technique, awareness, balance, and personal development. Students train in a supportive environment built around respect, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Our dojo provides high-quality instruction in Aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art based on movement, balance, timing, and effective defensive techniques. We also teach Iaido, the Japanese art of drawing and using the sword with precision and control. Together, these disciplines provide a well-rounded introduction to traditional Japanese martial arts.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, our programs provide a clear path for growth. We welcome students ages 11 and older. As a result, teens and adults can develop their abilities at a pace that matches their experience.

For those looking for martial arts classes in Roswell and the surrounding area, Aikido Association Atlanta provides an opportunity to experience authentic Japanese martial arts while improving physical and mental skills.

Experienced Instructors for Martial Arts Classes in Roswell

Quality instruction is an important factor when choosing a martial arts program. At Aikido Association Atlanta, students train with a certified teaching staff that includes more than 20 black belts. In addition, our senior instructors have decades of martial arts experience. Established in 1995, we are a non-profit school.

Our instructors work to preserve the traditions of Aikido while making training practical, engaging, and accessible. Students learn movement, joint locks, throws, defensive techniques, and other fundamental Aikido principles. Our Iaido program also introduces students to the discipline and precision of traditional Japanese swordsmanship.

Consistent training can improve strength, balance, coordination, and body awareness. However, the benefits of Aikido extend beyond physical skills. Students also develop patience, focus, resilience, and greater awareness.

Most importantly, our instructors emphasize safe training and proper technique. Students receive guidance based on their individual experience and progress. Therefore, beginners can develop a strong foundation while experienced martial artists continue to refine their skills.

Traditional Aikido and Iaido Training Near Roswell

Students searching for martial arts classes in Roswell may want something different from a typical martial arts school. Aikido offers a distinctive approach that emphasizes technique, timing, balance, and control rather than relying primarily on physical strength.

Iaido provides another way to explore traditional Japanese martial arts. Through precise movements and disciplined practice, students work to improve concentration, posture, coordination, and awareness.

Together, Aikido and Iaido offer students an opportunity to develop both physical and mental skills. We provide a structured environment where students can set goals and continue improving over time.

Rooted in the Global Aikido Tradition

Aikido Association Atlanta has deep roots in the international Aikido community. We are proud to be charter members of the Aikido World Alliance, led by A. Sato Shihan (7th dan, Aikikai). We also maintain a direct affiliation with Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo, Japan.

These relationships help keep our instruction connected to Aikido traditions practiced around the world. As a result, students receive more than a workout. They have the opportunity to study an authentic Japanese martial art with a recognized lineage.

Our connection to the broader Aikido community also helps students develop a deeper understanding of the techniques, principles, and philosophy behind the art. At the same time, our local dojo provides a welcoming environment where students can put those principles into practice.

If you are comparing martial arts classes in Roswell, GA, Aikido Association Atlanta offers a unique option. Whether your goal is self-defense, fitness, confidence, personal growth, or a deeper understanding of Japanese martial arts, our Aikido and Iaido programs provide a place to learn, practice, and grow.

TRADITIONAL IAIDO INSTRUCTION

In addition to Aikido, Aikido Association Atlanta is an official Shibu (branch) of the Ryuoukai organization in Japan, offering traditional Iaido instruction under the lineage of Nakatani Yoshitaro Sensei, the 12th Soke (headmaster) of the Mugai Ryu school. Iaido focuses on the art of drawing the sword with precision, awareness, and control.

Through this practice, students develop posture, focus, and mental clarity, which complement their Aikido training. Training in Iaido is not only physically demanding but also mentally stimulating, requiring concentration and discipline.

Students looking for traditional Japanese sword training in Atlanta will find authentic Iaido instruction that is deeply rooted in history and taught with attention to detail and discipline. Whether you’re looking to develop mental clarity, improve physical strength, or refine your swordsmanship, our Iaido program will guide you every step of the way.
